Project Appleseed believes in teaching history in an exciting, yet factual manner.

By giving children a good understanding of what the founders of this country did in years gone by, we are convinced they will appreciate liberty all the more.

Living History

When history is dry, it dies. When it is passed down as linked facts that contain no meaning or experience, it dies. When it is passed down, empty of any shared experience, it dies. And all it takes is one generation for death to end it all.

11:32 am Wednesday Morning: History Died...

Names, dates, places, times, and last of all, meaning, all came to a crashing end at 11:32 am for one young student Wednesday morning. Not only did he give up on the test, he gave up on the hope that any of it would be important to his life in any way, shape, or form. If anything, history became a burden of pain, wasted time, and useless facts. Perhaps this young man once looked at a figure in history as a person of interest, perhaps not. Perhaps this young man discovered a single fact that encouraged him to study more, mostly likely not. And perhaps this young man decided that some day he would voluntarily read a history book of his own choosing, but after 11:32 am Wednesday, that likelihood...was nearly gone.

9:37 am Saturday Morning: History Exploded to Life!

On Saturday morning at 9:37, the same young man, attending a Project Appleseed event, exploded with excitement, energy and a desire to learn! What made the difference? Through the teaching of history and excellent instruction in rifle marksmanship, and by his being on the ground involved with the activities intended to bring the stories of our ancestors to life, he discovered that history is full of real people, living through real events, making real choices and it's all relevant to his life today. He has learned that history is fun, exciting, and pregnant with meaning and joy. Finally, he has learned history's burden: the debt left to him -- to us.

Project Appleseed is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to history, heritage and marksmanship. We hold family friendly two day events for all ages that teach the uniquely American skills of marksmanship as a gateway into the history and heritage of our ancestors and the living history they have passed down to us. History is anything but dry and brings out a love and respect for history both as a mental knowledge to be mastered and as an emotional relationship that is to be felt and lived. We place our students in history both past and present. Their relationship with it is never the same again.
